Remember that exciting feeling you used to get, running to Best Buy to purchase the brand new Spice Girls ninety-nine cent single? Remember the feeling you would get, tearing through what seemed like 25 layers of plastic packaging, and finally putting the CD in your Discman only to hear the sweet melodies of Scary Spice singing to you about what she really really wants?
Well this week we experienced something a little reminiscent of those feelings after previewing the entire new M83 album on iTunes and realizing that a simple download of it just wasn’t enough. We wanted to hold it in our hands, paper, plastic and shiny disc itself. So we took a quick trip down the road to our favorite store, Von’s, and did something we haven’t done since 1997. That’s right, we bought an actual CD. There was something so poetic about it though, searching through the racks of discs, and walking out of the store with a little treasure in a white paper bag. Plus not to mention we got to actually look at the CD booklet… pictures, lyrics and all. Now when’s the last time you did that?
